Workshop on the 'Millennial Entrepreneur’

Our business is made up almost entirely of individuals from the Millennial Generation, Lauren Harrison, owner of River has run a company-wide workshop on the subject of the Millennial Entrepreneur - and how they're shaping the world of business.

Our amazing CEO Lauren Harrison ran a company-wide workshop on the above subject with aspirations to inspire the firm’s contractors. Lauren devised the seminar after researching the results of a survey conducted by Bentley University that found the millennial generation sense that professional success requires more independence and entrepreneurial inclination than previous generations.

Researchers also found that only a staggeringly low 13% of respondents said that professional success involves climbing the tradition career ladder. Contrastingly, almost 70% stated they have aspirations to open their own businesses, believing traditional routes do not necessarily lead to success.

"Millennials are realising that started a company, even if it lasts two years teaches them more than spending twenty years in a cubicle," famous words from our very own CEO.

River has pinpointed the shift in generations and their approach to the working world, recognising that many young professionals (up to 77%, Bentley University) value flexible working hours and the opportunity for remote working (39%, Bentley University) to be critical contenders in their productivity.

Researchers also found that the millennial generation prefers face-to-face interactions within their professional circles, heavily playing into the River business model. A shocking 51% prefer to interact with customers, clients and peers in-person as opposed to only 9% who lean toward mobile interactions.

By the year 2025, 75% of the UK workforce will belong to the Millennial and Generation Y workforce, and River are urging businesses to address their appeal to these professionals now, modifying business models to attract top talent.
